ISLAMABAD: Member Taliban negotiation committee and chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S), Maulana Samiul Haq Tuesday advised Defence Minister Khwaja Asif not to be over enthusiastic about using the military option.
“Military operation is no solution to the problem. Such talk is tantamount to putting the country’s integrity at risk,” the Maulana said while interacting with the media persons here, adding the ministers should desist from passing anti-dialogue remarks.
He said the ongoing peace talks enjoy backing of the Pakistan army.
Maulana Sami told the reporters that a meeting of the government and Taliban negotiation bodies was expected to take place in a day or two. “Such venues are being evaluated for arranging a meeting between the government committee and the Taliban Shura which are easy to travel to and back.”
Maulana Samiul Haq said the Prime Minister had promised release of women, children and elderly belonging to the Taliban but added that the government has not yet shared any list of such detainees
